Marion and Teresa Lucke have certainly been lucky in love; they’re preparing to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary in January! Marion Lucke is 94, and Teresa is 94 as well. She will be 95 on January 12, and he will be 95 in June. They have lived at Traditions of Deerfield since August 2023.
Marion was born in 1931 and raised in Cincinnati. From a young age, he learned the importance of honesty from his father, farmer Edward Lucke, who taught him about farming and instilled in him the importance of hard work.
Marion got his start in the home-building industry at just 18, working one-on-one with a carpenter to learn the trade. In 1953, Marion and his business partner, Bill Strassel, founded Lucke & Strassel, which is now the Robert Lucke Group. Marion is very proud of the business he started. He’s now retired, but at 92 years young, he still runs permits for the company.
Marion and Teresa met as students at Loveland High School in the 1940s. He was in the marching band, and she was a majorette.
They were married on January 6, 1951. Their wedding was almost canceled due to the weather; it snowed 11 inches on their wedding day!
Fun fact: both of her daughters also wore Teresa's wedding dress on their wedding days; they are hoping to have Teresa wear it for the vow-renewal ceremony, with her original veil.
The Luckes are quite active at Traditions at Deerfield. They regularly attend Happy Hour and they still hold hands when they are sitting next to each other. They are both always smiling and very grateful to have reached this milestone. Marion always says they've lived a very blessed life, and getting old isn't for sissies!
The Lucke family hosted a celebration in the Traditions at Deerfield dining room on Sunday, January 4, 2025, 2:00-4:00 pm, with a vow renewal ceremony beginning at 2:00 pm.
