Celebrating Older Americans Month this May: Flip the Script on Aging

Posted on: May 8, 2025
Categories: News

Celebrated every May, Older Americans Month (OAM) is led by the Administration for Community Living (ACL). Established in 1963, OAM is a time to recognize older Americans' contributions, highlight aging trends, and reaffirm commitments to serving the older adults in our communities.

This year’s theme, "Flip the Script on Aging," focuses on the importance of combating ageism to transform how society perceives, talks about, and approaches aging by challenging stereotypes and highlighting the benefits of healthy aging.

Flipping the Script on Aging at Traditions

At Traditions, our core values are designed to respect our residents’ dignity and provide them with choicesand socialization to enhance their lives. Through our varied activities, residents have the opportunity to meet new friends, try new things, and have fun!

Some of the fun things we’ve done recently include our Taste of Traditions events, a unified series of monthly activities designed to allow our residents to “tour the world” experiencing different cultures through fun, themed events and delicious dining options.

Our Commitment

Our commitment to our residents includes a focus on creating a welcoming environment where families feel comfortable visiting their loved ones. A place where the laughter of children echoing through the hallways is not only tolerated but encouraged because it means multiple generations are growing old together. We are dedicated to our value of socialization and creating an environment where families want to visit, not have to visit out of duty.

Most of our events are family-friendly and open to everyone.

Getting older shouldn’t be a negative. Aging
